This event will provide an introduction to the process and benefts of the practice of intumescent fireproofing. Intumescent paint is your friend. It can be used in creative design solutions where you are trying to express the steel structure, and there are other benefits as well: it takes up less space, doesn’t break off, etc. Come and see how it can be a tool in your design kit. David W. Dust, will cover appropriate application conditions, the benefits of the various types of fireproofing in different situations, and proper finishing to maintain the appropriate level of fire control for the safety of occupants.
Speakers: David W. Dust, Owner, D^2 Fireproofing Solutions
David Dust has 20 years of experience in fire resistive coatings as an applicator, engineer, and consultant. His largest fireproofing projects have been the Intel fabrication plant in Chandler, AZ; the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV; and the Baxter Pharmaceuticals Plant in Atlanta, GA. His experience covers estimating, training, working with “EDGE” software systems, project management training, systems controls, project closeout and warranty, as well as fire resistance design and code compliance. He is a graduate of Montana State University and a veteran of the United States Air Force.
As a reminder, AIA National policy requires participants to attend the entire educational portion of an event to receive continuing education credits. We encourage all participants to arrive on time to comply with this policy.
