State taxes are growing increasingly complicated and enforcement of these complex rules has become more stringent. Big data is now being used by state government agencies to identify non-compliance with their tax laws. In light of this, A&E firms must recognize what activities can create state tax exposures and how those issues can be addressed to mitigate liabilities.

Please join Citrin Cooperman on Tuesday, May 8, to learn about two important state tax issues:

  • Navigating New York Sales/Use Tax – The New York Department of Tax continues to make sales and use tax reporting a difficult venture, from indecipherable rules on sales tax on interior decorating and design services to the application of use tax on purchases. We’ll discuss what measures you should take to address exposure areas that may arise in a New York sales/use tax audit, as well as how to apply the rules in the course of operating a design firm in New York.
  • State Nexus Triggers – This seminar will include an in-depth look at nexus triggers that could impact your business across the United States. From economic nexus to the mobile workforce, we will talk through activities that trigger state tax filing responsibilities.
