Metrograph opens TALL, the 2006 feature film about Louis Sullivan directed by Manfred Kirchheimer. Kirchheimer will be present in person to introduce the 7pm screening on Friday, January 19!

Starting at the turn of the last century, visionary architect Louis Sullivan (mentor to Frank Lloyd Wright) built rhapsodies in brick, steel, and terracotta. Now, Sullivan finds in Manfred Kirchheimer a filmmaking champion perfectly matched to capture the beauty of his work. Telling the story of Sullivan and his nearest rival, Daniel Burnham (architect of the Flatiron Building), Kirchheimer’s impassioned film uses both original and archival materials to describe the rise of the skyscraper itself, a riotous outburst of creative exuberance that changed city life forever. A Cinema Guild/Streetwise Films release.

AIA New York members should present their member ID card to receive discounted tickets at the Metrograph box office.
