AIA CES: 1.5 LU | 1.5 HSW

When: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM THURSDAY, JANUARY 12

Where: At The Center

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is home to more than 400,000 New Yorkers, the nation’s oldest and largest public housing authority, larger than the next 11 housing authorities combined. NYCHA plans to improve the quality of its interior and exterior spaces by launching its Design Excellence initiative, part of its 10-year strategic plan, NextGeneration NYCHA. The initiative’s new publication, Design Guidelines for Rehabilitation of NYCHA Residential Buildings, outlines principles that guide the creation of safe, clean, and connected communities.

This event will present the collaborative work between NYCHA’s Office of Design, AIANY’s Housing and Design for Aging Committees, and Enterprise Green Communities. Participants in a panel discussion will discuss how the new guiding principles will help support the safety, health and comfort of residents, improve environmental impacts, and achieve high-quality, cost-effective design and construction.

Special thanks to the Fund for Public Housing, Deutsche Bank, and Enterprise Community Partners for their support and partnership in NYCHA’s Design Excellence Initiative.
