The Janelia Research Campus at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute by Rafael Viñoly Architects won the lab of the year award from R&D Magazine in 2007 and is now ten years old.

Join the AIANY Science and Research Facilities committee for a panel discussion about how this suburban, horizontal prototype influenced the design of research environments. Attendees will hear from Janelia’s programmer and manager, as well as administrators and researchers from Weill Cornell Medicine, Rockefeller University, the principal-in-charge for Rafael Viñoly Architects in New York, and a representative from Alexandria Properties.

Using the Janelia Research Campus and the linear addition to Rockefeller University’s labs as examples, panelists will discuss why its important to consider flexibility, adaptability, support space, office strategy, location, and ease of communication when designing lab environments.

Speakers:
Jay Bargmann, Vice President, Rafael Viñoly Architects
John Cunningham, Senior Vice President and Regional Market Director of New York City and Strategic Operations, Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc
